Live Blackjack Canada: The Best Online Dealer Tables in Ontario, Measured by Rule

ONE Blackjack deals from eight decks, the dealer stands on soft 17, blackjack pays 3:2 and Pragmatic Play publishes a return of 99.59%. That leaves 0.41% to the house before anyone sits down. We measure the live blackjack Canada has on offer in Ontario this way: placard first, then the cost, then the small print.

Every figure on this page comes from a provider help file, an operator lobby or a regulator document, and each one is linked on its placard. The 19 live tables in our Ontario register all carry a house edge from the provider's own published return, from 0.41% at ONE Blackjack to 2.77% at Easy Blackjack.

Where live blackjack Canada players can sit in Ontario

Ontario’s live lobbies belong to eleven private sites registered with the AGCO, each dealing its games under an agreement with iGaming Ontario. Those lobbies are ring-fenced: an Ontario account sees the Ontario catalogue only, and a table a brand deals somewhere else may be absent here. Everything on this page describes what the Ontario lobbies hold.

The studio range is wide. Evolution’s classic and VIP tables, Salon Privé, Speed, Free Bet, Infinite, Lightning, Bet Stacker, Easy and Fun Fun 21 all appear in Ontario, and Pragmatic’s ONE Blackjack sits at nine of the eleven sites. Playtech’s All Bets Blackjack and OnAir Entertainment’s city-named tables complete the picture, with Ezugi and Stakelogic at one site each.

ToonieBet prints the most limits of any Ontario lobby, on 237 of its 290 live tables. Its ONE Blackjack tables run C$1 to C$10,000, and Evolution’s Infinite, Lightning, Power and Free Bet tables C$1 to C$5,000. Other sites set their own ranges for the same games, so treat these as one example rather than a rule for the province.

The full lobby-by-lobby comparison, with live table counts, studios and C$ limits at each of the eleven sites, sits on the live blackjack Ontario page. This page works the other way round: it starts from the tables themselves, measures each one, and only then asks where in Ontario it is dealt and at what stake.

Live blackjack Canada tables compared by house edge

The list below ranks the live tables in our Ontario register by house edge. Every figure is the provider’s published return to player subtracted from 100%, taken from a rules file or a provider document, so the ranking compares like with like from the first row to the last, whichever studio deals the cards.

The spread is wider than most players expect. ONE Blackjack sits at 0.41%, Lightning at 0.44%, Privé Lounge at 0.49%, Infinite at 0.53%, Evolution’s classic seven-seat tables at 0.71%, Power at 1.20% and Free Bet at 1.74%. On a C$10 hand those gaps look tiny; over a few thousand hands they separate a cheap evening from an expensive one.

Two figures need a footnote. Privé Lounge’s 99.51% includes split after split, a re-split Pragmatic offers only at that table, so a player who never re-splits gives up slightly more. Lightning’s 99.56% covers the fee and the multipliers together, yet the fee still doubles the money staked each round, and the swings grow with it.

The Best Sites for Live Blackjack in Ontario, Ranked by Measured House Edge

The best sites for live blackjack are the ones that deal the cheapest live tables, and Pragmatic’s ONE Blackjack sets the mark at 0.41%. In Ontario it sits at 888casino, FireVegas, Jackpot City, LeoVegas, Royal Vegas, Spin Casino, Toppz, TonyBet and ToonieBet. Betway and Casino Days are the two Ontario sites without it.

Those two lead with other tables. Betway’s Ontario lobby starts with Lightning Blackjack at 0.44%, and Casino Days with Infinite Blackjack at 0.53%, because it carries no Pragmatic title in Ontario. TonyBet adds Privé Lounge at 0.49%, the only Ontario site in our records that deals it, with twelve numbered copies.

Lobby size is a separate question. ToonieBet lists 290 live blackjack tables in Ontario, TonyBet 281 and 888casino 199, while FireVegas and Toppz show five each. More tables mean more limits and more seats, not a lower edge: the same ONE Blackjack costs 0.41% in a lobby of five tables and in one of 290.

Live Casino Sites in Ontario with Blackjack Tables

The eleven Ontario live casino sites pick their own studios. Evolution supplies Betway, Casino Days, LeoVegas, TonyBet, ToonieBet and 888casino, while Jackpot City, Royal Vegas, Spin Casino, FireVegas and Toppz rely on Pragmatic Play Live and OnAir Entertainment. Playtech, Ezugi and Stakelogic appear beside Evolution in one lobby or another.

Every live casino we list deals blackjack under the same framework: registration with the AGCO and an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. 888casino and LeoVegas have been in the market since it opened on 4 April 2022, the three Cadtree Limited sites since June 2022, and ToonieBet since the end of 2024. The tables, not the dates, decide the price.

How live dealer blackjack works in the studio

Online blackjack with real dealers is played at a real table in a studio. The dealer draws physical cards from a shoe, a camera streams the felt online, and software registers every card so the result settles within seconds. You never speak to the dealer. Bets and decisions go through buttons, inside fixed windows that close on a countdown.

The round runs in three steps. A betting window opens and you place the main bet plus any side bets. The cards come out, and each seated player gets a decision timer to hit, stand, double or split. Then the dealer completes the hand by the printed rule, which on the Evolution files we hold is stand on all 17s.

Seat count shapes everything else. A classic table has seven seats, and when they fill you can still join through Bet Behind, which rides on another player’s hand and their decisions. Infinite formats remove the seat limit by giving everyone the same starting hand. Pragmatic’s VIP tables go the other way and cap the table at three players.

Speed matters more than it seems. Pragmatic lists a 20-second decision and betting time for its VIP tables and a 16-second betting time for ONE Blackjack. A shorter clock means more rounds per hour, and more rounds multiply the house edge into a larger hourly figure. Several tables also offer a deal now button that skips waiting for the timer.

Infinite Blackjack deals one common hand. Every player receives the same two starting cards, then plays them independently, so one player may hit a 12 while another stands. The table never fills. Because the shoe serves one hand per round, the provider can publish a single return figure: 99.47%, based on the first hand in the shoe.

The rule set is mixed. Eight decks, dealer stands on soft 17, blackjack pays 3:2 and you may double any two cards. Against that, there is no double after split, only one split per hand, a single card to each split Ace and no surrender. The published return already counts all of those rules, Six Card Charlie included.

Six Card Charlie is the unusual rule here. A hand of six cards totalling 21 or less wins automatically, even against a dealer blackjack. It comes up rarely, but it changes a few close decisions on multi-card totals. The dealer also peeks only with an Ace showing; with a ten-value card up there is no peek and no insurance.

Lightning Blackjack runs Infinite-style base rules with a mandatory fee on top. Every initial bet carries a Lightning fee equal to 100% of that bet, so a C$10 hand costs C$20 to start. The fee is not charged on doubles or splits, and the rules file says plainly that it is never returned, win or lose.

What the fee buys is a multiplier. A winning hand earns a random multiplier for a later round: 2x to 15x for an ordinary win and 6x to 25x for a blackjack, according to Evolution’s rules file. It stays available for up to 180 days and covers only up to the bet size of the round that earned it.

The small print bites on pushes. If the hand pushes, your main bet comes back but the fee and the multiplier are both lost. Taking insurance forfeits them too. The rules file prints a return of 99.56%, which covers the whole game, fee and multipliers included, so the house edge is 0.44%.

Free Bet Blackjack hands out free doubles on hard 9, 10 and 11 and free splits on every pair except ten-value cards. The price sits in one rule: when the dealer finishes on 22, every remaining player hand pushes instead of winning. A hand you would normally collect on becomes a stand-off, and that happens often enough to matter.

Evolution prints the cost directly. Its Free Bet Blackjack carries a published return of 98.26%, a 1.74% house edge, and in Ontario it sits at 888casino, Betway, Casino Days, LeoVegas and ToonieBet. That is more than three times the edge on Infinite Blackjack. The free doubles feel generous at the table, but the 22 push takes back more.

The rest is standard: eight decks, the dealer standing on soft 17 and a 3:2 blackjack. Pragmatic runs its own Free Bet table with the same push on 22 and free doubles on 9 to 11, at a published 98.90%, the cheaper of the two at 1.10%. LeoVegas is the Ontario site that deals it.

Privé Lounge is Pragmatic’s high-limit format, one player per table. The provider lists split after split on qualifying hands, a face-down double whose card stays hidden until the dealer finishes, and the option to request a dealer change. Pragmatic says split after split raises the return to 99.51%, so the 0.49% edge assumes you use it.

Evolution’s equivalents are Salon Privé and its VIP tables. Salon Privé is a private table with a VIP room manager, where the player chooses the dealer, the shuffle and the game speed. It deals eight decks at a 99.29% return, a 0.71% edge, and ToonieBet lists it at C$1,000 to C$10,000 in Ontario.

The highest single-table ceiling we found in Ontario is C$20,000, on Pragmatic’s VIP Blackjack 5 and 8 at 888casino, which open at C$1,000 and carry 0.59%. ToonieBet’s Always 6 tables start at C$50 with a published return of 99.34%. A high limit never lowers the edge; it only raises the stake the edge applies to.

Live Blackjack Online: Ontario’s Dealer Tables by Studio

Evolution supplies six of the eleven Ontario lobbies. Its range runs from seven-seat classic tables to formats that change the deck or the payouts: Power Blackjack removes every 9 and 10 from eight decks and allows up to a quadruple down, while Fun Fun 21 removes the tens and lets a player 21 beat a dealer 21.

Pragmatic Play Live runs ONE Blackjack, Speed, VIP, Free Bet and Privé Lounge tables. The provider states that double after split is available across all its blackjack products. ONE Blackjack shares one box among unlimited players and adds Six Card Charlie. Its rules file states 99.59%, and the Speed and classic VIP files 99.41%, edges of 0.41% and 0.59%.

Playtech Live’s All Bets Blackjack is an unlimited-seat game with six side bets and a Ten-card Charlie, dealt from eight decks with the dealer standing on soft 17 and no hole card, at a stated 99.46%. In Ontario it sits at 888casino, Betway, LeoVegas and ToonieBet, and 888casino deals it from C$1 to C$1,000.

A fourth name turns up across Ontario lobbies: OnAir Entertainment, part of Games Global, with tables named after Toronto, Ottawa and Niagara Falls. Its seven-seat tables deal eight decks, the dealer stands on soft 17 and blackjack pays 3:2, at a published 99.44%. Eclipse Blackjack, its unlimited-seat version, quotes US$1 to US$1,500.

Live Dealer Blackjack in Ontario: Rules That Change the Edge

The live studios bend the standard game in several directions, and each bend carries a price. Always 6 fixes the dealer’s first card as an unsuited 6 and pays ordinary wins at 0.61 to 1, for 0.66%. Fun Fun 21 removes the tens, lets a player 21 beat a dealer 21 and has the dealer hit soft 17, for 0.63%.

Power Blackjack takes every 9 and 10 out of the shoe and lets you double up to four times the bet, which lands at 1.20%. Easy Blackjack drops the player’s hand altogether: you bet that a score from 16 to 20 beats the dealer, and Evolution’s top return of 97.23% makes it the dearest live table at 2.77%.

Live casino blackjack versus computer-dealt tables

Online blackjack with a live dealer differs from computer-dealt play more in pace than in maths. A random number generator can reshuffle every hand and deal instantly. A live shoe is dealt down to a cut card and the dealer works at human speed. The house edge still comes from the placard, so compare the rules side by side.

On rules alone, some computer-dealt games come out cheaper. Games Global’s Vegas Single Deck publishes a 99.69% return, a 0.31% edge, and its four-deck Vegas Strip carries 0.35%. The best live figure we hold in Ontario is ONE Blackjack at 99.59%. A live dealer table is a slower, more social game, and you pay a little for it.

Pace pulls the comparison back the other way. Fewer rounds per hour at a live table means fewer bets exposed to the edge in a session. A computer-dealt table with a lower edge can still cost more per hour if you play it at twice the speed. The next section works through that arithmetic with a clearly marked example.

What an hour at a live table costs on average

The expected cost of a session is simple multiplication: rounds played × average bet × house edge. The rounds per hour below are an illustrative assumption, since pace varies by table, by dealer and by how many players are seated. They describe a long-run average, not what any single session will do, and real results swing well above and below it.

Example only: assume 50 rounds an hour at C$10 a hand on Infinite Blackjack. That is C$500 wagered, and 0.53% of C$500 is about C$2.65 per hour on average. The same assumption at a Free Bet table with a 1.74% edge gives about C$8.70. At 100 rounds an hour, the Infinite figure doubles to roughly C$5.30.

Lightning Blackjack changes the input. With the 100% fee, a C$10 hand puts C$20 at risk before any decision, so the money wagered per hour doubles at the same pace. Whatever the return figure says about the long run, your bankroll still meets twice the turnover, and the swings grow with it.

Side bets at live dealer blackjack tables

Most live casino blackjack tables offer side bets, with far higher edges than the main hand. The Infinite Blackjack rules file publishes the returns: Any Pair 95.90%, 21+3 96.30%, Hot 3 94.60% and Bust It 94.12%. Subtract each from 100% and the house edge runs from 3.70% to 5.88%, roughly seven to eleven times the main bet’s 0.53%.

Other tables print their own side-bet returns. Power Blackjack’s file lists Any Pair at 96.58%, 21+3 at 96.09% and Bust It at 94.71%, and Pragmatic’s ONE Blackjack gives 21+3 at 96.30%, Perfect Pairs at 95.90%, Crazy 7 at 94.77% and its dealer-bust bet at 94.12%. All Bets Blackjack carries six side bets with Nevada paytables.

Is live blackjack rigged? Studio oversight in plain terms

The question comes up constantly. A live table is a person dealing real cards from a shoe on camera, and the rules files describe each step of the procedure. The house does not need to rig anything. Its advantage is printed in the rules and payouts, and the published return figure tells you its size.

What a player can check is the registration. In Ontario, every operator shown must be registered with the AGCO and operate under an agreement with iGaming Ontario, whose directory lists them all. A registered site also displays the iGaming Ontario and BetGuard logos. A site missing from that directory is unregistered in Ontario, and we do not list it.

Published figures are the second check. A rules file with a return, deck count and limits is a document you can hold a table to. Every live table on this page has such a figure, from ONE Blackjack’s 99.59% to Easy Blackjack’s 97.23%, so each one can be checked against its own document before you sit.

Where to Play Live Blackjack in Ontario

For live blackjack Canada players in Ontario, the lobby depends on the site. ToonieBet holds 290 live tables across five studios, TonyBet 281 and 888casino 199, while FireVegas and Toppz offer five Pragmatic tables each. Casino Days deals 113, almost all Evolution. Each site’s review lists the tables it deals, with the limits it prints.

Eligible games conducted and managed by iGaming Ontario are only available to people physically present in the province. You must be 19 or older, and the site will check your location before it opens a live table. A phone that blocks location access fails that check, so allow it for the browser or the app.

Ontario rules also shape what this page shows. No promotional material appears beside the Ontario operator list, and every site shown there is registered with the AGCO. If a table named on this page is missing from your lobby, the site has dropped it or never carried it. Check the game list on the site itself before depositing.

Basic strategy under a decision timer

A countdown changes how strategy feels, not what it is. The correct play for each hand is fixed by the rules on the placard, and our strategy chart sets it out for the common rule sets. Every departure from basic strategy costs money over time, and a timer makes hurried departures more likely. Keep the chart open beside the stream.

Infinite formats make one thing easier. Because everyone shares the same starting hand, the table shows how other players decided, and Pragmatic’s ONE Blackjack even displays live statistics of the majority choice. The majority is often wrong on soft doubles and pair splits. Follow the chart for the table’s rules and ignore the crowd, however confident it looks.

Some rules move the chart. No double after split, as on Infinite and Lightning, takes some pair splits off the table against weak dealer cards. A dealer 22 push, as on Free Bet, changes several doubling and splitting decisions. Six Card Charlie shifts a few multi-card stands. The chart for the matching rule set covers each case.

A decision timer leaves no room to look things up, so the chart has to be in your head before you sit. The blackjack trainer deals random hands against random upcards on six-deck rules, checks each decision against the chart and lists your last ten mistakes. Nothing is stored and no money is involved.

Choosing the best live table: checks before you sit

Start with the placard. The best live table for you is the one whose rules you can read in full: deck count, soft 17 rule, blackjack payout, doubling and splitting, and a published return. If the game’s help screen cannot answer those questions, you are guessing at the price. Evolution’s and Pragmatic’s help files answer every one.

Then check the limits against your bankroll. A C$1 minimum at Infinite Blackjack and a C$50 minimum at an Always 6 table describe very different sessions, so pick the minimum first. Set a session limit in your account before you join, and use the site’s own deposit and time limits instead of a mental note.

Last, open the game’s rules screen once seated and compare it with our placard. Limits, side bets and even the return can differ by site, and a provider can change a configuration. If the table’s own help text shows a different figure from ours, trust the help text and use the site’s contact form to ask why.

Questions at the table

Frequently asked questions

Can you play live blackjack online in Ontario?

Yes. Privately run sites registered with the AGCO deal live blackjack under an agreement with iGaming Ontario, and all eleven sites we list carry live tables. You must be 19 or older and physically located in Ontario while you play. The sites check your location before a live table opens, and again at the start of each session.

Is live blackjack rigged?

A live table deals physical cards from a shoe in front of a camera, and the published return figures come from the provider's own rules files. Rigging is not the right word for the real cost: the house edge is built into the rules and payouts. Choose a site registered in Ontario and read the published rules before you play.

How does live dealer blackjack work?

A dealer in a studio deals real cards while a video stream shows the table. You place a bet inside a betting window, then choose hit, stand, double or split within a decision timer. Software records each card so the result settles automatically. Classic tables have seven seats; Infinite formats let unlimited players share one hand.

What do live blackjack dealers see?

Live dealers deal from a physical shoe while software reads every card into the game. Your decisions travel as button presses through the game interface, not as video, and where a table offers text chat, the dealer may read and answer it. The dealer runs the procedure; the software applies your choices to the hand.

Can live blackjack dealers see or hear you?

No camera or microphone is needed on your side, so the dealer has no view of you and no way to hear your voice. The stream runs one way, from the studio to your screen. Some tables offer a text chat that the dealer may read and answer, and that is the only channel from player to dealer.

Do I need a webcam to play live blackjack?

No. Live blackjack only needs a device that can play a video stream and a stable connection. Your decisions are sent through buttons on the game screen. A webcam plays no part in the game, and none of the provider rules files we read mention one. Ontario sites do ask for location access, which is a different thing.

Is live blackjack better than online computer-dealt blackjack?

On rules alone, the cheapest Ontario tables are computer-dealt: Vegas Single Deck at 0.31% and Atlantic City at 0.35%, while the live tables we list run from 0.41% to 2.77%. Live tables are slower, though, so the cost per hour can still be lower at the same bet size. Pick on pace and limits as well as on edge.

Do live dealer tables give players better odds?

Not as a rule. The house edge depends on the rules printed on the placard, not on whether a person or a program deals. Infinite Blackjack's published return of 99.47% means a 0.53% edge, while a computer-dealt Vegas Strip table with four decks carries 0.35%. Read the rules, not the format.

How many decks does Evolution blackjack use?

Evolution's rules files state eight decks for Infinite, Lightning, Free Bet, Speed and its classic seven-seat tables. Power Blackjack also uses eight decks with every 9 and 10 removed, Fun Fun 21 uses eight decks with the tens removed, and Always 6 Blackjack uses six decks with a fixed 6 as the dealer's first card.

Is live blackjack legal in Ontario?

Yes, on sites run by private operators registered with the AGCO and operating under an agreement with iGaming Ontario. Eligible games conducted and managed by iGO are only available to people physically present in Ontario, and the minimum age is 19. Ontario lobbies are kept separate, so a table seen elsewhere may be missing from them.

What is Infinite Blackjack and how is it different?

Infinite Blackjack is an Evolution game where every player receives the same two starting cards and then decides independently, so seats never run out. It uses eight decks, the dealer stands on soft 17, and Six Card Charlie wins automatically. The rules file publishes a return of 99.47%, which is a 0.53% house edge.

What is Lightning Blackjack?

Lightning Blackjack is an Evolution table that charges a fee equal to 100% of every initial bet. A winning hand earns a random multiplier for a later round, from 2x to 25x according to the rules file. A push returns the main bet but the fee and multiplier are lost. In Ontario it sits at Betway, LeoVegas and ToonieBet.

What is Free Bet Blackjack?

Free Bet Blackjack gives free doubles on hard 9, 10 and 11 and free splits on pairs other than ten-value cards. In exchange, a dealer total of 22 pushes every remaining player hand. Evolution publishes a return of 98.26%, a 1.74% house edge, and Pragmatic's version at LeoVegas 98.90%, which works out to 1.10%.

Which live casino in Ontario is best for blackjack?

Compare the tables each site deals. The lowest published house edge among our Ontario live records is Pragmatic's ONE Blackjack at a 99.59% return, at nine of the eleven sites, then Lightning Blackjack at 99.56% at Betway, LeoVegas and ToonieBet. Limits, side bets and lobby size decide between sites that deal the same table.

Can I play live blackjack for real money on mobile in Ontario?

Yes. The studios stream to phones and tablets through the casino's site or app, and the betting and decision buttons are the same as on desktop. Allow location access, because Ontario sites check you are in the province before the table opens. A live stream uses data continuously, so Wi-Fi avoids cuts during a hand.

Why does the house have the advantage in blackjack?

The player acts first. If you bust, you lose even when the dealer busts afterwards. That single order of play outweighs the 3:2 payout on blackjack and the player's freedom to double and split. Rule changes such as 6:5 payouts or a dealer hitting soft 17 push the edge higher.
