The rows below cover the blackjack apps Canada stores list for ten Ontario brands: nineteen listings, one row each. iPhone sizes come from the store’s byte count, and for Android the same column gives the download band Google Play prints. Toppz has no row because its Ontario site runs in any phone browser instead of an app.

Three patterns stand out. Ten brands have an iPhone app and nine an Android one; only Royal Vegas stops at iOS. Five brands, 888casino, LeoVegas, TonyBet, ToonieBet and FireVegas, publish apps built for Ontario alone. And sizes run from 22.2 MB to 264.6 MB, a twelvefold spread for apps that open the same card tables.

The largest listings, TonyBet, LeoVegas and ToonieBet, each combine a sportsbook with the casino in one app. Casino Days, Betway, 888casino, Jackpot City, Spin Casino and Royal Vegas carry the casino alone, with sport and poker in separate products where a brand offers them. Jackpot City’s 4.5 from 24,907 ratings and LeoVegas’s 2.83 from 63 are not two scores on one scale. The first is an average over a large crowd, and one more review barely moves it. The second comes from a group small enough that five angry reviews in a week could drop it by a visible margin.

Jackpot City, Spin Casino and Royal Vegas make a cleaner test. Their iPhone apps share one template: each needs iOS 15.1, lists English, French and fourteen other languages, and weighs between 42.4 MB and 43.0 MB. Their averages are 4.5, 4.55 and 4.54, from 24,907, 2,155 and 565 ratings, crowds more than forty times apart in size.

The LeoVegas Android listing is the extreme case: a 3.95 average from 19 reviews. Nineteen people is not a sample, and the number says little about the app’s quality either way. A sensible threshold is a few hundred ratings before an average deserves weight, and even then it describes the software, not the price of a table.

What a rating never covers is the maths. A five-star app can open a 6:5 table, and a two-star app can open Infinite Blackjack, whose published return of 99.47% puts the house edge at 0.53%. Jackpot City, Spin Casino, Royal Vegas and Betway sit at iOS 15.1, TonyBet at 15.0 and Casino Days at 15.6. An iPhone stuck on an older release still opens each brand’s website.

Update dates show maintenance, not quality. Betway updated its iOS app on 6 October 2026, Jackpot City and Royal Vegas on 5 October, ToonieBet on 29 September and TonyBet on 25 September. FireVegas last updated on 14 May 2026, nearly five months before our reading, which is worth weighing next to its 3.79 average from 43 ratings.

Release dates add context. 888casino’s Ontario app went live on 7 April 2022, three days after the province’s regulated market opened. Royal Vegas followed in September 2022, and Spin Casino and Jackpot City in December 2022. FireVegas arrived in January 2023, Casino Days in May 2024 and ToonieBet in December 2024, the youngest iPhone listing in the table.

Language is the other iPhone filter for French-speaking players. Jackpot City, Spin Casino and Royal Vegas list English, French and fourteen other languages, Betway lists twenty including French, and the TonyBet Ontario app lists twenty-two. The 888casino, LeoVegas, FireVegas and ToonieBet listings are English only, although FireVegas runs a full French-language website as well.

The newest listings are much smaller. LeoVegas’s Ontario Android app, com.leovegas.grizzly, shows 1K+ downloads and a 3.95 average from 19 reviews, and its description names Tigergen Limited and AGCO registration OPIG1337312. FireVegas lists an app called Firevegas, by Whitehat Gaming, at version 0.0.2 with 50+ downloads and no ratings yet, so its average has still to form.

Minimum Android versions spread wider than on iOS. FireVegas accepts Android 5.0 and TonyBet Android 6.0. Betway, Casino Days, Jackpot City, Spin Casino and ToonieBet need Android 7.0, while 888casino and LeoVegas need Android 8.0. A phone that stopped receiving updates several years ago can still run some of these apps, though not every one of them.

Two brands describe APK files. Casino Days’ Ontario app page tells you to allow installs from outside the store, which an APK needs, and Betway’s help centre describes separate Sports, Casino and Live Casino APK downloads from its site. Both also publish a Play Store casino app that needs no such setting and updates itself in the background.

An APK skips the store’s checks, so the source is the whole question.
