The consent notice
On a first visit, a notice appears at the bottom of the page. It says that the site sets no tracking or advertising cookies, that your answer stays in your browser, and it links to the privacy policy, the cookie policy and the terms. Two buttons follow: Accept and Decline. Neither one is selected for you.
Your answer is what the site stores. Pressing Accept saves the value 1, and pressing Decline saves the value 0, in your browser’s local storage under the key ck. On later visits the site reads that value, sees that you have answered, and keeps the notice hidden. The value is never sent to us or to anyone else.
What is stored and for how long
Local storage is a small store inside your browser that belongs to one site. Unlike a cookie, its contents do not travel with each request to the server. The ck value stays until you clear it, and it holds nothing about you except your answer. It carries no identifier, no visit history and no location.
If your browser blocks local storage, for example in some strict privacy modes, the site cannot save or read the value. In that case the notice stays hidden and the visit is treated as declined. Nothing non-essential runs either way, so a blocked store changes how often you see the notice and nothing else.
Third-party cookies
No third-party cookies are placed by the site at present. There are no embedded advertising networks, social media buttons, analytics scripts or video players that would set them. Images, fonts and scripts are served from the site itself, so a page view does not tell an outside company that you visited.
No visit counter or other measuring service is loaded today. If it is added, it will run only in browsers where Accept was chosen, and this cookie policy and the privacy policy will be updated first. The update will name the service, say what it records, and say how long that record is kept.
Location lookup and operator sites
The location lookup that chooses your provincial operator list is not a cookie. It reads the country and province supplied by the network edge when a page loads, uses them for that page, and stores nothing. The site does not keep your IP address, and the lookup runs the same way whether you accepted or declined.
Links to operators run through pages under /go/ that send you on to the operator’s own site. Once you arrive, the operator’s own cookies and consent notice apply, under its policy. Those cookies are not set or read by blackjacksites.ca. The terms of use explain the affiliate links and the limits of our responsibility for operator services.
How to withdraw or change your choice
To withdraw or change your answer, clear the stored data for blackjacksites.ca in your browser. In most browsers that sits under privacy or site settings, where you can search for the site by name. Clearing it removes the ck value, and the notice will ask again on your next visit, as it did the first time.
A private or incognito window starts without the value and forgets it when the window closes, so the notice appears in each new private session. If you use several browsers or devices, each one keeps its own answer. To check what is stored right now, open your browser’s site data view for blackjacksites.ca and look for the key ck.
